Welcome to the Balance Center
at the MEOCLINIC in Berlin
Our Balance Center provides all diagnostic and therapeutic (in part: surgical) therapy options for balance disorders. The leading symptoms are rotational vertigo, stance and gait disorders, an increase in body sway (in roll and pitch) or acute (unilateral) loss of vestibular function.
US: We are a partner of VEDA
AUS: We are a partner of DIZZINESS & BALANCE DISORDERS CENTRE
The diagnostic battery includes a 5-receptor work-up of the peripheral vestibular organ (c/o VEMPS, HIT etc.), posturographic testing (dynamic/mobile posturography) and other tests, usually accompanied by neuroimaging.
Those balance (“vestibular”) disorders include:
- Menière’s disease, dehiscence syndromes (of the superior and/or posterior sccs)
- Central vestibular syndromes (e.g., vestibular migraine, neurovascular conflicts of the vertebra-basilar circuitry)
- Vertigo in the elderly (“presbyvestibulopathy”).
The therapeutic options include (as defined by the extent/stage of vestibular disorder):
- Medical (drug) therapy (iv, oral, locally as ITT)
- Training programs (e.g., home/individual neurofeedback/technically supported)
- Surgery (e.g., in Menière’s, SCDS).
